The Los Angeles Dodgers have made an interesting roster move on Wednesday. Ahead of their series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers optioned right-handed pitcher Landon Knack to Triple-A. J.P. Feyereisen was added to the active roster to help a bullpen that needs some fresh arms.

Knack has made a really strong impression through his first three MLB starts. Knack has pitched 16 innings, and has allowed just five earned runs, good for a 2.81 ERA.

Knack has been filling in nicely for right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller, who went on the injured list with shoulder soreness. However, he was likely going to be sent down when Walker Buehler was able to make a return — and that return could be imminent.

Buehler made his sixth rehab start on Tuesday, and looked solid. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said there was a chance Tuesday could be Buehler’s last rehab start, and Knack being optioned definitely lends credence to that idea.

Knack would not be able to return to the Dodgers’ active roster for two weeks unless someone was placed on the injured list. So, over the weekend, when his spot comes up in the rotation, the Dodgers could be calling up Buehler to make his first start in MLB since 2022.

If Buehler isn’t ready, and the Dodgers want to recall Knack, they’ll need to place someone on the IL. Joe Kelly is dealing with a potential injury, which is something to monitor.
